Remote Control

This is no ordinary wall switch. Insteon Wall Switches can be remotely controlled from almost any device in your home: Sensors monitoring doors, windows, leaks and more, remotes, keypads and other wall switches throughout your home, even your smartphone when used with the Insteon Hub.

On/Off or Dimming

Whether you need the raw switching power of our 1,800W-relay-based On/Off Switch or the gentle dimming grace of our traditional Dimmer Switch, there's an Insteon Wall Switch to fit your switching needs.

Scenes+

One of the most powerful features of Insteon switches, Scenes let you control multiple devices simultaneously with a single tap. Brighten all of the lights in an entire room with a tap-and-hold or create infinite virtual multi-wa
y switches.

Customizable

Adjustable ramp speeds and on-levels can be configured for dimmers while LED indicators for all Insteon wall switches can be adjusted so that they don't shine too bright at night. Switches can also be linked to one another, making it possible to create virtual 3-way circuits wherever you want.

Are you installing a single switch?

This guide covers a single switch controlling a fixture. If you are installing as part of a multi-way circuit (2 or more switches controlling the same fixtures).

    Step 1. Turn off power

Remove power to your switch by turning off the appropriate circuit breaker at the electrical service panel. Confirm power is turned off by flipping the existing wall switch on and off.

    Step 2. Remove old switch

Unscrew and pull the old switch away from the wall. Look in the wall box for neutral wires. These are usually 2 or more white wires connected with a wire nut. If you do not have these or are unsure, stop and contact support.

Disconnect the wires and make sure to straighten the ends and have about 1/2” length of exposed wire.

    Step 3. Turn on power

Turn on power at the circuit breaker and use a voltage detector to identify which exposed wire has voltage. This will be considered the line wire. The wire without voltage will be the load wire.

Step 4. Turn off power & connect wires

Turn off power at the circuit breaker. Connect the Paddle wires to the identified wires in the junction box.

Verify that the wire nuts are secure and that no exposed copper wire is visible except for the bare ground wire.

Step 5. Install and turn on power

Install the Paddle into the junction box with the status LED on the left. Turn on power at the circuit breaker.

    Step 6. Test

Tap the paddle top and bottom to turn on and off the connected light.

If the fixture is not dimmable change the Paddle to on/off mode (see the end of this guide).

Step 7. Link to Insteon Hub 2

In the Insteon Director app, follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Paddle to the Insteon Hub 2.

Insteon Hub 2 enables control from your smart phone and voice assistant.

    Enjoy your new Dial

Adjust settings, set schedules and create scenes for your Paddle using the Insteon Hub 2 and Director app.

Manually change between dimmer and on/off modes

Out of the box, your Paddle is set to on/off mode. If it’s wired to a dimmable bulb or fixture, follow the instructions here:

    1. Pull out the set button to engage - the air gap (status LED will turn off)

    2. For dimmer mode: press and hold the top of the paddle
For on/off mode: press and hold the bottom of the paddle

    3. While pressing the paddle, push the set button back in place

    4. Continue pressing the paddle until the status LED turns blue and the device beeps once (dimmer mode) or beeps twice (on/off mode)
